Ravens cornerback Domonique Foxworth teamed up with members of the Pat Tillman Foundation, several Ravens cheerleaders and approximately 100 additional volunteers on Monday.

A member of the decertified NFL Players Association’s executive committee, Foxworth took a break from the collective bargaining negotiations to participate in several service projects in his hometown of Baltimore.

Foxworth participated as a representative of his foundation, Baltimore BORN (Boys Opportunity and Resource Network), which is a non-profit organization supporting the boys of Baltimore City.

“It was a great opportunity to take pride in something and clean up the community, but I also had an alterior motive,” Foxworth told reporters.  “I wanted to get them around this group of adults who have a civic duty and appreciate that responsibility.”

The service projects are part of the Pat Tillman Legacy Summit, a three-day gathering that celebrates the third class of Tillman Military Scholars, which is an initiative supporting active and veteran service members by helping them complete degrees or certification programs.

Held around the Oliver neighborhood of downtown Baltimore on a hot July afternoon, volunteers – including Foxworth – helped clear brush, remove trash and construct a courtyard.  Local artist Michael Owen also led a group in painting a large, colorful mural on the side of one building.
